The strange rains of this week kept us inside longer than we would like. The few times outside were full of exploration and energy. On Friday we observed squirrels eating from a pile of acorns that the children gathered. Many children were so excited that they created another mountain of acorns to feed all of the squirrels in Miami-Dade county.
Other children were excited to see leaves and other small objects floating in puddles around the playground. From the garden Ms. Rachel shared a small bouquet of cotton flowers and the children seemed impressed that some flowers had pink petals while others had yellow petals.
This past week we read a few books about Hanukkah. We had a dreidel game as a work in the math area and we talked about lighting one candle on the menorah for each night of Hanukkah. Other children enjoyed decorating a small tree in the practical life area and and shared about putting up decorations at their homes for Christmas.
Ms. Maria Wimberly is collecting information from parents to help us keep in touch. If you have not heard from her, please send me an e-mail.
We practiced our song, "It Starts In The Heart" almost every day this past week with room 109. The children practiced both with the recording and with a live accompaniment. We looked and sounded great and we can't wait for you to see the show this Friday, December 18th around 9 AM. We will be one of the first acts, so please arrive on time!
Following the show we will have a luncheon before leaving for the break. Please take home all items from your child's cubbie area and check the spare clothes in the bathroom. If you wish to go home after the luncheon, you may sign out your child from the office.
May this winter break fill you will joy and peace and we look forward to seeing everyone in 2016!
Ms. Joanna Boone
