This week we prepared for and honored our fathers with a special day for them to visit and work with us. We hope all of our guests enjoyed the time with our classroom and were able to enjoy an arepa and their barbeque sauce!
Earlier in the week we continued discussing Australia and the animals that inhabit this unique part of our planet. In the afternoons we read the books, "Koala Lou" and "Possum Magic" by Mem Fox. Jungle Josh surprised us on Tuesday by sharing a veiled chameleon and another friend shared his female parakeets for the day. The children impressed Jungle Josh with their knowledge of chameleon skin, eyes, and tongues.
After our glimpse of Vegemite in the story "Possum Magic" Ms. Regalado shared a tube of Vegemite with us that her friend brought to her after a trip to Australia. On Wednesday the children prepared and shared Vegemite sandwiches; all but two children enjoyed them.
The parent-teacher conferences started on Thursday afternoon and will continue in the afternoons from 2:30-3:50 until next week. If you have not scheduled a 20 minute conference appointment, please sign up for a time on the back side of our classroom door.
This Friday's water day will need volunteers to help with the water slides, snack area, and bathroom spots. Please remember that you must be at least a level 1 volunteer according to Miami-Dade county to assist with the day. If you still need school service hours you may also help out with our end of the year cleaning for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday in the last week of school. Our room mother will send out the times and we hope that you can assist in packing up the materials before the end of the school year.
I hope this weekly letter blog has been helpful for you this year throughout the year. Please share any feedback with me through e-mail in ways to improve on the weekly letter. Enjoy the rest of this Memorial Day weekend and I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.
Ms. Joanna Boone
